The moral fabric that holds society

Compare social control methods

Social control methods have been an effective mechanism of holding together the moral fabric that holds society. Social control methods have been aimed at instilling some form of order and transparency in the wider society. The society would be in total chaos if these interventions had not been put in place.
Comparison of social control mechanisms
Different societies have different methodologies of implementing the said social control methods. It should be noted that many factors such as the environmental setting greatly determine the kind of control mechanisms that will be adopted. What works in one societal setting might not work in another societal setting and vice versa (Bailey, 2008).
The Islamic culture is a perfect example that illustrates how social control mechanisms can be used to initiate discipline to the subjects. The Islamic culture has devised some laws which should be strictly adhered to. The Islamic laws provide the directives which each and every faithful should adhere to if he or she has to associate with the Muslim religion.
The Muslim religion uses war to instill the true characteristics of a Muslim. The Muslim religion engages in what they refer as Jihad- meaning holy war. The war is aimed at strengthening the faith and belief of Muslim followers. The war acts as a link between the spiritual world and the faith of each individual believer.
The Christian religion on the other hand, employs the use of public opinions to pass important information and doctrines to its followers. The Christian culture operates in such a way that the followers of the religion should conform to the decisions and directives reached by their leaders since, the people believe that they are human representation of GODS authority.
The Christian culture in addition uses teaching and other pastoral lessons to reach out to its many followers. The Christian culture uses these platforms to educate its followers about their expectations as far as Christianity is concerned. The teachings remind the followers of the course of action that they are supposed to follow if exhibiting real Christianity is viable.
Political and economic organizations
Some political and economic organizations patterns which include bands, tribes, chiefdoms and the state have resulted to the use of various social control methods such as war, public opinions, witchcraft accusations and laws because these mechanisms tend to achieve results in midst of the  current developments in the society. These political and social organizations have realized the use of the said control mechanisms has a far reaching effect on the target population.
The state has always manipulated the law in order to achieve its ambitions. The law has been used to address matters of national interest. The law has been used by the state in advancing both positive and negative ambitions. The use of public opinion has become another frontier for advancing social control mechanisms. The use of public opinion has been viewed as a more democratic approach of implementing laws and regulations. To sum it up, war has emerged as the new and better option of expressing opinions and taking sides on various issues.
Effective social control mechanisms
According to experts and other stakeholders the best social control mechanism should be friendly to the subjects. The social control mechanism should be used as a platform for advancing the best options for the people regardless of their societal affiliations or not (Cozzens, 1989). The use of public opinion has received unwavering support from various quarters of the society. The public opinion mechanism has been viewed to incorporate views from different people implying fairness in the control mechanisms. Personally I think personal opinion would work for me because, I believe that every person has a right to express his or her views as long as they do not offend other people.
