Islam Culture has had a Great Influence on the Society
The Islamic culture has been in existence for many years and admittedly, this religion has had a great impact on its followers. The rules, cultures and other Islamic norms make the religion to stand out among a wide range of religious groupings prevalent in today’s society.
The general Muslim laws have had profound effects on the legal and social position of women. The Muslim culture contributed in further segregation of women in the social circles. The Islamic laws have placed women in their positions. For example, Muslim women who are married wear niqaabs while in public. This requirement has deprived women of many social opportunities that they could use to enrich their lives. In addition, the Muslim culture has separated women from their men folk. Women come in during times of sexual relations and other gestures meant to please and show respect for the husband.
The Muslim culture has compromised the legal representation of women (A gender, 169). The Muslim culture operates in such a way that issues related to women do not top the priority list. Instead, the religion has put emphasis on male related issues. Women in these societies are on the receiving end. Their position in the religious circles does not allow them to raise issues that affect them. Women have found themselves on the receiving end of the law. The Muslim culture has created that is male oriented.
Khadijas role challenges the contemporary stereotype of women in the sense that she does things that most Muslim women perceive as against the norms. Khadija is an open minded and intelligent young woman who strives to find the meaning of her life in the midst of the challenging and harsh Muslim community. Khadija spends time on the garden watching the beautiful scenery of nature. Khadija sometimes decides to take a walk as a means of relaxation. The meeting with Said Agha who orders her back to the house attests to this.
The changes brought about by the Muslim culture in regard to the social and legal position of women is evident. These changes have brought more setbacks than progress to women. The example of Khadija is a one of a kind example that illustrates how a Muslim woman could take advantage of what life has to offer and live her life to the fullest.
